Eviction deadlines move fast

Legal Aid of Arkansas explains these steps (page updated September 28, 2026):

  • For unpaid rent, a landlord can file to evict if you stay after a notice to vacate within 3 days. Federally funded housing covered by the CARES Act needs at least 30 days' written notice.
  • After you are served, you have 5 days, not counting Sundays and legal holidays, to file an objection. If you don't, you can lose your home by default.
  • You also need to file an answer within 30 days of being served.
Bunkly tip. Don't ignore the papers. Write down the date you got them, and call legal aid the same day.
