How to make blessing bags in Delaware
The short answer
A blessing bag is a small bag of everyday things you hand to a neighbor who needs them. Pack water, snacks, socks and a card with 211 and 988 on it. Give with a kind word.

What to pack
- A bottle of water.
- Snacks that are soft and won't melt, like granola bars or crackers.
- A new pair of socks.
- Wipes, a toothbrush and small toothpaste, lip balm.
- A small card: Dial 211 for help near you. Call or text 988 in a crisis. 1 800 799 7233 if someone is hurting you.
Pack for Delaware weather
In hot weather, add an extra water and sunscreen, and keep bags out of a hot car. In cold weather, add gloves, a hat and hand warmers. The National Weather Service has safety tips for both.

How to give
- Ask first: "Would you like this?" It's okay if someone says no.
- Look people in the eye and say hello. A kind word matters.
- Never give medicine, and leave out anything with alcohol.
Give more
Ask 211 which local shelters, food pantries and clothing closets need donations or volunteers near you.
