What Indiana Legal Services says

  • In many cases, a landlord must give 10 days' notice before starting an eviction in court, but your lease controls. If you pay the rent in those 10 days, you generally should not be evicted.
  • If you are served with eviction papers, go to court. You always have the right to ask for a hearing in front of a judge.
  • The deadline to file a Motion to Correct Error or an appeal is 30 days after the eviction order.
  • If a default judgment was entered, you can ask to vacate it for good cause within 12 months.
Bunkly tip. Don't ignore the papers. Write down the date you got them, and call for help the same day.
