Wet Windows Every Morning? Wipe Them
Foggy, dripping windows mean warm, damp indoor air is hitting cold glass, a common sight in a Northwest winter. Wipe the glass, frames and sills each morning, open blinds during the day, and run bath and kitchen fans. If condensation stays heavy even with fans running, tell your landlord in writing.
Why this helps
Water left on a sill can mark the home, and it can worry the people living there. A quick morning wipe helps, and a written note to your landlord makes sure a heavy case gets seen.
Do this
- Wipe the glass, the frames, and the sills each morning. Drying them keeps the water from sitting.
- Open the blinds during the day. A little light and air helps things dry out.
- Run the bath fan and the kitchen fan. They help move damp air out of the home.
- If the glass stays heavy with water even with the fans running, tell your landlord in writing. A written note gives you both a record.
Next step
Give the windows a quick wipe tomorrow morning while the coffee brews. If they stay soggy, send your landlord a note.
