1. If someone is living in the unit and looking for a person to share the expenses, they are a roommate. That is this board. An owner who lives there, and a tenant who already lives there, are both this path. The number of bedrooms does not decide it. Bunklow does not match, screen, recommend, or select roommates, and we do not verify anything a poster says.
2. Renting by the room is not this board. The person who rents the dwelling by the room is the landlord of that room. They list the place, not a roommate. A house, condo, townhome, apartment, or a unit in a duplex, triplex, fourplex, or larger building follows the same rule when it is rented as a place. See Fair housing.
3. Why this board can say women or men. Sharing the home you live in is not the same as renting out a separate place. Washington RCW 49.60.222(7). Fair Housing Council of San Fernando Valley v. Roommate.com, LLC, 666 F.3d 1216 (9th Cir. 2012). That case is a Ninth Circuit ruling. Washington and Oregon are in that circuit. It is not a U.S. Supreme Court ruling, and it is not legal advice. Race and color have no exemption. On this board only, a person may say they hope to share the home with women or with men. That line is not a match and not a rank. Race, color, national origin, religion, and disability stay blocked.
4. Screening the person you might live with is a paid avenue, or your own path off this site. You choose that step. We do not run the check, read the report, or decide. If you use your own agreement, you are responsible for it. Bunklow did not write or review it. Read Your own papers.
5. Age. Roommates is for adults only. By posting or responding, you confirm you are at least 18 years old. Bunklow does not independently verify age.
6. Safety. Meet in a public place first. Tell someone else where you are going. Never send money, a deposit, or personal financial information before you have seen the place and the person. Report a suspicious post on the post, or via Write us.
7. No liability for user content. Bunklow does not write or endorse a Roommates post. Users are responsible for what they post. We may remove a reported post. We are not obligated to review posts before they go live. We are not liable for what you choose to do next, to the maximum extent the law allows.
